Wellness & Relationship Consultation

Support for relationships, family life, work, and career decisions in English and Korean in Pyeongtaek.

When everyday difficulties keep taking up your time and energy, it can help to look at them together. I’m Dr. Minsu Kim, a U.S.-licensed clinical psychologist. We’ll clarify what matters to you and what you can do next.

Relationships, work, and life decisions

Consultation starts with the situations you are facing and the changes you hope to make. You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation or a ready-made goal.

Relationship and family concerns

Repeated disagreements, different expectations, and difficulty understanding each other can affect partners, parents and children, or extended family. We can look at how you respond to one another and where your own choices might make a difference.

Workplace relationships and adjustment

You may feel caught in conflict with a manager or colleague, unsure of your role, or unsettled by a change in your social environment. We can clarify what is happening, what is within your influence, and which response fits the situation.

Career, study, and life direction

Perhaps you are considering a change, struggling with academic decisions, or unsure whether to stay with a path you have already invested in. We can examine your experiences and priorities without assuming there is one right answer.

Focus on what you can influence

I often begin by helping you separate what you can change from what you cannot control. Through careful questions, we can examine assumptions, consider another perspective, and bring attention back to your own choices.

For career and life decisions, we look closely at past experiences, current difficulties, and fears about what comes next. Together, we distinguish concerns that call for action from expectations that need another look, then develop a plan that fits your values.

My approach draws on Socratic questioning and cognitive-behavioral principles. I ask questions to help you notice assumptions, reframe a situation, and consider where to direct your effort. The aim is for you to understand your options, rather than simply follow my advice.

What we do together

1. Understand the situation in detail

We explore what has been happening, what you have already tried, and what feels difficult now. For a career decision, that may include earlier roles, recurring challenges, and fears about the future.

2. Look at the problem from another angle

We separate practical barriers from assumptions and expectations. In a relationship, we may distinguish your responsibility from another person’s choices. In a career decision, we may examine whether a fear points to a real obstacle or a possibility you have not yet tested.

3. Choose a direction and practical steps

We work toward a plan that reflects your values and circumstances. That may mean changing an action, approaching a conversation differently, or giving attention to a decision you have been avoiding. You remain involved in choosing the direction.

Come individually, as a couple, or as a family

Individuals, couples, parents and children, or several family members can participate. We agree on who joins each session based on your needs and goals. Some meetings may involve everyone; others may focus on one person or part of the family.

We discuss the purpose of any individual or family meetings together, including appropriate consent and privacy expectations.

Questions about consultation

Can I come alone for a relationship concern?

Yes. You can work on your own perspective, responses, and decisions even when your partner or family member is not attending. Consultation does not require everyone involved in the situation to participate.

Will you tell me which decision to make?

My role is to help you understand the situation more clearly, including possibilities you may have overlooked. We consider your priorities and the likely implications of your choices so you can decide on a direction that makes sense to you.

Is this the same as psychotherapy or an evaluation?

This service focuses on everyday relationship, adjustment, and life-direction concerns without a diagnostic evaluation. Psychotherapy and psychological evaluations are separate services. We can discuss which service fits what you are seeking rather than choosing solely by its label or fee.

Can sessions be in English or Korean?

Yes. Consultation is available in English and Korean. When more than one person will participate, please tell us the language needs of everyone involved.

Practical details

This is a self-pay, non-diagnostic consultation service and is not submitted to insurance. If assessment or psychotherapy would better fit your needs, we can discuss that separately.
